QUESTIONS COMMONLY ASKED ABOUT OUR WORSHIP....
-
Are you a contemporary or traditional church?
We strive to be a contemporary/traditional blend of worship and practice. We may seem to be slightly more contemporary than traditional but this doesn’t negate our commitment to be part of the continuing church.
-
How long is your worship service?
We resist the idea that a worship service must be an exact period of time. When one’s chief goal is to stop at exactly the precise minute, this shows disrespect to God in the same way that an abrupt end to any conversation shows disrespect. We do strive to keep our worship services under an hour and thirty minutes.
-
What type of music and instruments does your church use?
We are open to all kinds of music and instruments. However, not all instruments are appropriate all the time. All music is to be presented before God with a humble and contrite spirit, not flashy or self-exalting. All music, especially solos, must be presented by those who know their own sinfulness and God’s forgiveness. Personal testimony is of utmost importance for anyone who would desire to lead our congregation in worship. This does not mean that only the sinless may sing. But it does mean that each one should consider the testimony of his life and the quality of his gift before standing before the assembly.
-
Do you follow the regulative principle of worship?
Yes, we do follow the regulative principle of worship, but not in a wooden manner. Those who believe that the regulative principle calls churches to be a freeze frame of 15th century culture, would not be comfortable in our church. We are a church which is constantly reforming, constantly asking the question, “How can we best communicate a relevant message to a skeptical world.
-
Do you allow dance in your worship service?
We are open to the biblical expression of dance in worship in our church.
